Tea Lab Company, a UK-based premium tea brand, requires a packaging solution that mirrors its core philosophy: absolute purity. The Engineering Challenge of Eco-Friendly Rigid Packaging

  • Eliminating protective plastic lamination while maintaining a flawless, scuff-resistant white exterior.
  • Engineering a custom insert capable of immobilizing five fragile glass tubes during international shipping, using only paper-based materials.
  • Achieving premium tactile feedback across the entire structural surface.

01. Material Science

Unlaminated Tactility

To bypass the need for plastic lamination while achieving the required ultra-white finish, we sourced a premium Art Ultra White Card. Instead of relying on a chemical coating, we applied a macro-embossing technique across the raw paper surface. This delivered a sophisticated, tactile finish that is inherently scuff-resistant and fully recyclable.

02. Structural Engineering

Zero-Movement Insert

Glass protection requires sub-millimeter precision. We bonded a thicker gauge of the embossed ultra-white card directly onto high-density greyboard, creating a rigid, shock-absorbing platform. Custom die-cut housing slots were precisely calibrated to the exact diameter of the glass tubes, ensuring a high-friction fit that prevents rotational or lateral movement.

03. Precision Finishing

Print Fidelity

The CMYK printed borders were executed with tight registration to maintain the crisp, minimalist “lab” aesthetic, proving that sustainable choices do not require a sacrifice in print fidelity.

Outcome & Impact

The resulting packaging is a testament to sustainable luxury. It successfully eliminates all plastic components and lamination, achieving full recyclability. Furthermore, the precision-engineered insert passed all simulated transit tests, ensuring zero glass breakage.
