Standard single-lid boxes open with a simple lift. The double-door magnetic cognac box opens like the pages of a rare manuscript — both panels parting symmetrically from the centre, guided by the resistance of hidden neodymium magnets and initiated with a grosgrain ribbon tab anchored cleanly into the side panel. This bilateral reveal creates a visual axis that frames the bottle, positions it as the centrepiece, and gives the recipient an active role in the unboxing. Each door panel is constructed from 3mm grey board laminated to a 2mm inner layer, giving the panels enough mass that they open with a deliberate, weighted swing rather than snapping loosely. The magnets are recessed flush so there is no visible hardware on the exterior surface.

Sage Baroque: Tonal Spot UV on Specialty Green Paper

The sage-green colourway — designed for ABK6 XO Renaissance — achieves its signature look through a two-step surface process. First, the acanthus scroll pattern is printed in a slightly deeper sage tone across the entire specialty paper face. Second, a precisely registered spot UV gloss varnish is applied over the scroll motif, making the pattern catch light from different angles — matte where your eye rests, brilliantly luminous where the light hits. This tonal, textural interplay creates depth without colour contrast, giving the box an understated luxury that photographs exceptionally well under both studio and ambient light. The brand badge at centre uses thermobaric silver foil stamping for crisp definition on the detailed logowork, and a hand-applied black border strip frames all four edges, referencing the refined structure of traditional cognac house packaging.

Deep Plum Botanical: Full-Colour UV Print with Silver Foil Ornament

The deep-plum colourway — created for DHP XO Renaissance — takes a more painterly approach. A rich full-colour CMYK UV print lays a dense botanical pattern of overlapping tropical leaves across the dark plum specialty paper, with individual fronds rendered in lilac, dusty blue, charcoal, and near-black tones to create remarkable depth within an intentionally dark palette. A sweeping baroque scroll ornament is then applied in flat silver foil over the print, its high-contrast metallic surface catching light in a way that printed silver ink never could. The brand badge is similarly foil-stamped. Inside the doors, the botanical pattern continues onto the inner panel faces with the brand logo centred, ensuring that even the opened box is a complete visual object. White paperboard lines the cavity, providing a clean contrast against the dark exterior and making the bottle stand out immediately upon opening.

The interior of a double-door spirits box is the first thing the recipient sees when the panels part. Both editions treat this space as a continuation of the brand story. The ABK6 edition uses a silver metallic specialty paper lining throughout the cavity walls and base — the reflective surface amplifies the bottle’s silhouette and the cool sage tones of the exterior, unifying the design. The DHP edition uses high-white matte paperboard, creating a deliberate light-vs-dark contrast that immediately draws the eye inward. For either colourway, the inner door panels are printed to match the exterior — meaning the open box is a full 180° branded environment. Optional upgrades include precision-cut EVA foam bottle cradles for added protection during transit, satin or velvet base lining, and hot-stamped interior copy such as tasting notes, house history, or QR codes linking to digital brand content.
